Jackson Model Rocketry Club

Rockets for Schools

The Jackson Model Rocketry Club will be playing a rather large role in this years Muskegon Rockets for Schools. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the program, it is basically an educational opportunity for groups affiliated with anything i.e. schools, boy scouts, girl scouts, businesses, etc. to learn about rocketry. The elementary age students will build a rocket similar to a beefed up Estes Big Bertha carrying an egg. As for the middle school through high school the students will build a high power kit. Which is a 4" diameter, about 6' tall flying on an I284W. Which for those of you who have never seen a high power motor burn before, this takes the cake. This is Aerotech's largest I motor, anything bigger moves up to the J class.

As for our club's role... we are in charge of the elementary launch which will take place on May 4, 2001. We will need about 5-6 members that are familiar with Estes rockets and D motors. We will also need a couple members who are quite familiar with High Power rockets to assist with the registration table. For some reason several questions are brought to this table and the normal volunteers are not real fluent with high power rocketry language. In other words, we need someone who can speak fluent rocketry.
